Second Vice President of Cambodian NA Pays Courtesy Call on Vietnam’s NA Chairwoman

H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, the Second Vice President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia, has recently paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of Vietnamese NA, in Hanoi, as part of her five-day official and friendly visit in Vietnam since Mar. 21.

According to news release of the Cambodian NA, H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, also Chairperson of Cambodian Women Parliamentarians Caucus (CWPC), conveyed regards from Cambodian top leaders to their Vietnamese counterparts, and informed H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan of the purpose of her visit which was to exchange experience between the two legislative bodies in foreign affairs and to learn from Vietnam’s successful experience in organising Asia-Europe Parliamentary Meeting (ASEP) and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary added that the visit aimed to particularly further strengthen and expand the friendship ties, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The Cambodian NA second vice president thanked H.E. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan for being an honored guest to deliver remarks in the first-ever Meeting of Women Parliamentarians at the 27th Annual Meeting of Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-27) in Siem Reap province, and said Cambodia was proud of H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong’s state visit last month as it was his first state visit since he took office as Vietnamese President.

On behalf of Samdech Heng Samrin, H.E. Khoun Sudary also invited H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to attend ASEP to be hosted by Cambodia in 2020.

For her part, H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her pleasure to welcome the Cambodian delegation and spoke highly of Cambodia’s successful organisation of the 6th parliamentary election and the APPF-27. She also emphasised Vietnamese’s commitment to maintain the current relations between the two countries in all sectors for the sake of mutual development.
