Senate President Receives Japanese Senator

Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has received here recently H.E. Iwai Shigeki, Member of the House of Counsellors of Japan.

On the occasion, H.E. Iwai Shigeki informed Samdech Say Chhum of his visit, the purpose of which, is to seek understanding on Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Cambodia.

The Japanese senator recalled Samdech Say Chhum of the good relations and cooperation in all sectors, especially the exchange of visits between delegations of both nations’ legislative bodies.

H.E. Iwai Shigeki appreciated Cambodia for her rapid development in all domains, saying that Japan is delighted to share her modern technology in order to contribute to Cambodia’s development.

For his part, Samdech Say Chhum expressed warm welcome to H.E. Iwai Shigeki’s visit to Cambodia, indicating that this visit will contribute to promoting the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries and particularly between the two legislative bodies.

The Cambodian senate president highly valued the development of the ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations and peoples, and Japan’s assistance to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal, mine clearance and infrastructure development projects in Cambodia.

He also expressed profound thanks to the Government and people of Japan for their contribution to Cambodia’s development in all sectors.

The direct flights of All Nippon Airways (ANA) between Japan’s Tokyo and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh will widely contribute to exchanging mutual culture, tradition, tourism and commerce between the two countries, underlined Samdech Say Chhum.
