Singaporean President Begins State Visit in Cambodia

The President of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, started this afternoon his four-day state visit in the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

The Singapore president and Madam and their entourage were warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, and H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism as Minister-in-attendance, as well as many other senior officials.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during his stay in the Kingdom from Jan. 8 to 11, H.E. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam will be received in separate Royal Audiences by His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, and Her Majesty Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, at the Throne Hall and at Preah Reach Damnak Kantha Bopha, the Royal Palace.

Moreover, H.E. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam will hold bilateral talks with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei TechoHun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The two leaders will also preside over the signing ceremony of the two following documents, including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Collaboration in the Field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training between Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of the Kingdom of Cambodia and ITE (Institute of Technical Education) Education Services, Republic of Singapore; and the MoU between Calmette Hospital, Cambodia, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital Pte Ltd, Singapore.

Besides, H.E. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam will also visit Singapore-project at the Calmette Hospital, Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat Temple in Siem Reap Province.
