Special Envoy of ASEAN Chair Heads for Myanmar

A delegation led by H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia and Special Envoy (SE) of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, left here this morning for a three-day working visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The delegation includes H.E. Kitti Settha Pandita CHAM Prasidh, Senior Minister, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, H.E. Dato Lim Jok Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre), and a number of senior government officials as well as staffs from the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) and AHA Centre.
According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the first visit of the Special Envoy to Myanmar will be aimed at creating a favourable condition leading to the end of violence as well as the utmost restraint by all parties; distributing humanitarian assistance with the support and coordination from ASEC and AHA Centre; and encouraging the political consultations / dialogues among all parties concerned.
The visit will take into consideration as basic documents the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus, the outcomes of the working visit of Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen to Myanmar on Jan. 7-8, 2022, the outcomes of the discussions between Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen and Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the outcomes of the recent ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat, the same source underlined.
