Cambodia and ASEAN want to see the adherence to the One China Policy to improve the Taiwan Strait issue, underlined H.E. Kung Phoak, Spokesperson for the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and Related Meetings in a press conference here on Aug. 4 evening.

“Cambodia’s stand is clear, i.e. based on the One Chine principle. […] We encourage all parties to agree with and respect the principle,” said H.E. Kung Phoak, also Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

“Cambodia as well as ASEAN urge all partners to show their recognition and completely implement the principle and key documents already agreed on,” he added.

Full respect of the One China principle may ease the tension at the Taiwan Strait, the spokesperson said, stressing that the principle leads to the stabilisation of China-Taiwan relations.
