A man was arrested in Kratie’s Chet Borei district on Tuesday afternoon after police allegedly found nearly 1 kilogram of methamphetamine on his person.

Officers with the Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Drug Unit, along with Kratie provincial police forces, arrested suspect Seng Chenda, 48, when he was found concealing a 793.3-gram bag of meth in Katut village, Sambok commune.

“The suspect was tracked for many months after [we] received a report from Laos [authorities] that the suspect was doing business with a cartel in Laos,” said provincial police chief Khan Chamnan. “He fled to Cambodia after a huge crackdown was conducted in Laos in early March.”

Chamnan added that after the interrogation, the suspect and the evidence were sent to the Kratie Provincial Court.

Provincial prosecutor Ty Sovinthal said yesterday that the suspect was charged with possessing and dealing drugs.

On Saturday, a Laotian man in Preah Vihear’s Chheb district was nabbed for allegedly possessing nearly 2 kilograms of methamphetamine after illegally crossing into Cambodia.
