Takhmao City To Host River Festival 2018 in March

Takhmao city of Kandal province, about ten kilometres from Phnom Penh capital, will host Cambodia's 2018 River Festival with optimism of more participants, according to local media report.

As scheduled the festival, fourth of its kind in Cambodia, will take place from Mar. 9 to 11, 2018 with various activities ranging from sports events, concerts, wedding ceremonies to green practices, such as tree planting.

The source cited Mr. Chourp Sophorn, Director of Kandal Provincial Department of Tourism, saying that his ministry is attracting tour cruise ship to anchor in the river at Takhmao during the festival so that foreign tourists can witness the occasion.

The director anticipated around 500 booths to showcase products during the event, and that many domestic participants will be part of it as the largest city of Kandal province is not far from Phnom Penh.

Taking place on an annual basis, the first three river festivals were organised in Kratie in 2015, Kampong Cham in 2016 and Stung Treng in 2017.
