Tax Collection Rose by Almost 30 Percent in First Half of 2019

Cambodia collected some US$1.5 billion as tax revenue in the first half of 2019, an increase by US$300 million or 28.9 percent compared to the same period last year.

The income made was equivalent to 66.71 percent of 2019 planned tax collection, according to figures from Ministry of Economy and Finance.

In June alone, the General Department of Taxation (GDT) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance generated US$197 million, the figures revealed.

H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, who chaired a recent GDT’s recapitulative meeting, expressed his appreciation of the performance of the GDT team and relevant stakeholders, and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

Last year, the revenue from the tax collection was US$2.19 billion, 11.19 percent year-on-year increase.
