Technical Support for Cambodia’s National Air Operator Launched

France’s technical support for Cambodia’s national air operator has been recently launched in Phnom Penh, in the presence of H.E. MAO Havanall, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat for Civil Aviation and H.E. Jacques PELLET, French Ambassador to Cambodia.

On the occasion, both sides welcomed the long-standing partnership between the two countries, in particular between the Cambodian State Secretariat for Civil Aviation and the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

According to the French Embassy, the project worth €450,000 is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and mobilises a French resident expert, Ms. Michelle Devilliers, in Phnom Penh for one year.

In a context of economic and tourism recovery, the same source pointed out, the project aims to strengthen the safety and security of the sector, as well as to integrate environmental issues into the country’s airports.

In line with AFD’s commitment to have a 100% Paris Climate Agreement activity, it added, the project aims in particular to reduce the carbon footprint of airports.
