Thai Delegation Seeks Trade Cooperation Opportunities in Cambodia

A Thai delegation composed of representatives of the Board of Investment of Thailand and Thai Business Council and investors from 20 companies have been on a visit to Cambodia to learn more about the Kingdom’s investment environment and opportunities and seek more business cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

The Thai delegation was received by H.E. KIM Sithorn, Acting Minister of Commerce, at the ministry office here on Sept. 17.

On the occasion, the acting commerce minister briefed the delegation on the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy, Phase 1, which considers the private sector as a locomotive for the national economic growth, as well as on business and investment protection policy through trade facilitation, tax incentives, and many other benefits, which have improved business environment and eased doing business in Cambodia.

The Ministry of Commerce has been increasing the export of more agricultural products, processed agricultural products, fisheries, small and me
dium-sized industrial goods, and is ready to provide coordination for the establishment of connection between Cambodian and Thai investors.

For the first half of 2024, the two-way trade between Cambodia and Thailand reached US$5.19 billion, a year-on-year increase by 20.52 percent. Both neighbouring nations are committed to achieving their bilateral trade target of US$15 billion by 2025.
