Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Supports Cambodian-Thai Journalists Associations to Fight Fake News

Deputy Spokesperson of Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) highlights his support for the journalists associations of Cambodia and Thailand in fighting against fake news.

The Deputy Spokesperson Mr. Thanawat Sirikul, who is also MFA’s Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, shared the intention when receiving a delegation of the Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ) in Bangkok, Thailand, recently.

Mr. Thanawat Sirikul warmly welcomed the delegation of Cambodian journalists led by CCJ Secretary General Ms. Thong Sovanraingsey for their exposure visit to Bangkok from Aug. 16 to 31.

Engagement of the Thai Embassy in Cambodia and relevant institutions and journalists associations of the two countries will be an effective coordination against fake news, he told the delegation.

The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said, can support the network that will communicate and exchange of factual information with each other.

In the fight against fake news, it is important to build mutual trust
and secure participation of both journalists and the government, he added.
