Thailand To Provide Train Engine to Cambodia

Thailand will provide a train engine to Cambodia to promote the transport and tourism sectors between the two neighbouring countries, said H.E. Hun Many, a lawmaker, after his return from Thailand.

The promise was made by Thai Prime Minister H.E. Prayut Chan-o-cha when he received a Cambodian delegation during their visit in Thailand this week, said H.E. Hun Many.

"In the one-hour meeting, H.E. Prayut Chan o-cha said the train engine will be sent to Cambodia soon," he added.

Cambodia plans to connect the missing rail line to Thailand by the end of this year.

Cambodia is Thailand's 22nd largest trading partner and eighth largest in ASEAN. The two-way trade reached US$5.1 billion in 2014, up 11 percent from US$4.6 billion in 2013.

Some 70 percent of products imported from Thailand to Cambodia passed through Poipet international border gate.
