Thailand Wishes to Expand Halal Industry Production into Cambodia’s Market

Thailand wishes to expand its Halal industry production into Cambodia's market to serve 100 Muslim communities and tourists visiting the Kingdom.

The information was shared by H.E. Darm Boontham, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy in Cambodia while visiting Cambodian Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak on Jan. 30, said a news release of the ministry.

To share experience with Cambodia on the development of Halal products and to promote cooperation between both countries' businessmen, Thailand will organise a small seminar in April, said H.E. Darm Boontham.

In reply, H.E. Pan Sorasak welcomed and supported the initiative because the Royal Government of Cambodia has acknowledged the importance of Halal for the national economic growth. He also told his guest that the ministry has finalised a sub-decree and created a committee to examine the Halal products, prepare the roadmap and standard certificates for Halal to inform traders and the citizens.

H.E. Minister further requested H.E. Darm Boontham to cooperate with the General Directorate of Trade Promotion for organising the seminar and to create training programmes for Cambodian officials as well as study visit for them to explore Halal development mechanism in Thailand.
