The ASEAN Ministerial Meetings with Dialogue Partners Concluded Successfully

AKP Phnom Penh, August 04, 2022 — The 12 ASEAN Ministerial Meetings with 11 dialogue partners and ASEAN-Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held today were concluded successfully, said H.E. Kung Phoak, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Spokesperson of the 55th AMM and Related Meetings.

All ASEAN’s dialogue partners expressed their plan and perspective to increase the level of their cooperation with ASEAN, he said at a press conference here this evening.

The meetings held today are the ASEAN-China, ASEAN-ROK, ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-UK, ASEAN-India, ASEAN-Canada, ASEAN-Australia, ASEAN-New Zealand, ASEAN-EU, ASEAN-U.S., ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meetings, and the 23th ASEAN-Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, he pointed out.

To date, ASEAN has established dialogue partnership with 11 members, sectoral dialogue partnerships with 4 nations, and development partnerships with 4 nations. ASEAN has also established regional cooperation mechanism such as ASEAN Plus Three and East Asia Summit.

Currently, only China and Australia have reached the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. The U.S., Japan and some other nations also want to increase the level of cooperation with ASEAN.
