Three ASEAN Leaders To Attend WEF on ASEAN in Cambodia

At least three ASEAN leaders have confirmed their attendance to the upcoming World Economic Forum (WEF) on ASEAN 2017 in Phnom Penh next week, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s press release.

Those leaders include H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; H.E. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines; and H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, it pointed out.

Besides, it added, representatives of Heads of State/Government and Ministers from across Asia-Pacific region will take part in the event to be held from May 10 to 12, 2017 under the theme Youth, Technology and Growth: Securing ASEAN’s Demographic and Digital Dividends, along with important senior decision-makers from the industries and leading figures from business, academia, and civil society.

According to the same source, the WEF on ASEAN 2017 is expected to focus on how the region’s expanding young and dynamic workforces can be engaged in ways that build the brightest future for the region.

The three-day forum will also provide an opportunity to raise Cambodia’s international profile and enhance the national prestige of the country. Furthermore, it will contribute to the promotion of investment opportunities and tourists to the Kingdom where majority of huge potentials has yet been unlocked.

This forthcoming event will yield substantive outcomes to further promote sustainable development, peace, stability and prosperity that contribute to the building of the resilient ASEAN Community.
