AKP Phnom Penh, July 19, 2017

Relevant officials from three different ministries gathered here yesterday in a meeting to boost the community-based tourism management and development in the country.

According to the Ministry of Tourism's news release, the meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism; H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment; and H.E. Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

H.E. Thong Khon said the three ministries had agreed to set forth some strategies to promote the community-based tourism management and development, but an inter-ministerial commission is needed, therefore they are planning to request the royal government for the formation of this commission.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 communities of different focal points, including forest, wildlife, bird protection, fishing and tourism in Cambodia, of which 56 are tourism communities located in 16 provinces.
