Three More Days to Go for 31st SEA Games, Cambodia Won 7 Gold Medals

As of May 20, Cambodian athletes earned seven gold medals at the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam, according to the update from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).

H.E. Vath Chamroeun, the Secretary General of NOCC and the National Organising Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 (CAMSOC), recently stressed that Cambodia is breaking the gold-medal record from the 30th SEA Games wherein the country got four gold medals.

He spoke highly of the hard work of all Cambodian athletes and coaches at the SEA Games in Vietnam and acknowledged the guidance and enormous support by Samdech Pich Sena Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence and Chairman of CAMSOC, and H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and President of NOCC.

The achievement is building more confidence of Cambodian athletes to perform well at the 32nd SEA Games that the country will host next year.

As of May 20 evening, Cambodia has won a total of 50 medals — 7 gold, 9 silver and 34 bronze; as there are three more days until the closure of the games.

At the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019, Cambodia won 4 gold, 6 silver and 36 bronze medals.
