Three Vessels of Japanese Self-Defense Forces To Visit Cambodia Next Week

Three vessels of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) will visit Cambodia next week during their training course, said a press release of the Embassy of Japan AKP received this morning.

The JMSDF’s “MAKINAMI”, “ASAYUKI”, and “SHIMAYUKI” led by Captain Masahiko Kawakubo, Commander of the Escort Division 13 of JMSDF, will arrive at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Feb. 13 morning and stay in Cambodia until Feb. 16, it pointed out.

“The objectives of the visit are to strengthen friendship between Japan and Cambodia through various exchange programmes as well as to give opportunities for 110 cadet school graduates to learn about culture and the military in the Kingdom of Cambodia,” it underlined.

According to the press release, following his arrival Captain Masahiko Kawakubo is scheduled to visit Ream Naval Base, Preah Sihanouk Provincial Office and Port Authority of Sihanoukville. The next day, he plans to visit Phnom Penh to pay a courtesy call on Cambodian Royal Navy commander.
