Traffic Accidents Kill 1,717 Cambodian People Last Year

In the whole 2016, a total of 1,717 people were killed by road accidents while 6,607 others were injured, according to official statistics released recently by the National Police.

January 2016 was the deadliest month of the year, underlined the same source, adding that there were only 11 days that had no traffic-related death record.

Major causes of road accidents are excessive speeding, drink driving, failure to obey the traffic law and sleepiness as well as vehicle and road factors.

Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kratie, Kampong Cham, Prey Veng, Kampot, Kandal, Pursat, and Takeo have high record of road casualties.
