Traffic Accidents Kill 55 People during Khmer New Year Holiday

During the five-day holiday of the Khmer Traditional New Year, from April 13 to 17, 2017, 55 people were killed and 226 others injured by road accidents.

According to the Traffic Police and Public Order Department's record, there were in total 121 cases of traffic accidents, claiming 55 lives and injuring 226 people.

The main causes of road accidents are excessive speeding, drink driving, and other traffic law violations, it pointed out.

Those traffic accident cases happened mostly in Battambang province, followed by Kampong Thom province, Phnom Penh capital city, and Svay Rieng province, said the report.
