Traffic Accidents Kill 931 People in First Semester

In the first semester of this year, 1,907 cases of traffic accident were recorded, according to a report of the Traffic Police and Public Order Department.

In that period, traffic accidents claimed 931 lives and injured 3,006 people, it added.

In June alone, there were 272 cases of road accidents, killing 132 people and injuring 420 others, said the report.

The main causes of traffic accidents are excessive speeding, drink driving, and other traffic law violations, it pointed out.

Road accident is a major man-made disaster in Cambodia even though relevant authorities and other stakeholders have paid more attention to promoting the awareness and enforcement of the traffic law.
