Turkey should assume its obligations on the missing persons issue, Commissioner says

The problem of the missing persons in Cyprus could be not be resolved unless Turkey assume its responsibilities and obligations, Presidential Commissioner Fotis Fotiou told a delegation of the All-party parliamentary group for Cyprus in the House of Commons.

Fotiou briefed on Saturday the delegation on the serious problems and challenges facing the efforts to solve the “tragic issue of the missing persons,” and underlined the need to restore and respect the human rights both of the missing persons as well their families which have been blatantly violated by Turkey for almost half a century.

Turning to Turkey, Fotiou said this country should cooperate substantively and sincerely.
