Two Cambodian Delegates Attend 2nd International Student Conference on Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Customs Management in Azerbaijan

Two Cambodian delegates has been attending the 2nd International Student Conference on Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Customs Management, taking place from July 3 to 7 in Gusar, the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event is aimed to discuss and share experience as well as to find key solutions to deal with challenges in each country, in the region and the world.

In his opening speech, Prof. Aydin Aliyev, Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said the preparation of international conferences on the customs sector was so important to all countries to share knowledge and experience as well as to address some of the challenges in the field of customs.

All the participants in this conference are from customs family of different countries and we also use different languages, but we all understand each other by using customs language in order to communicate and strengthen the relationship from one country to another, he said, urging members and families of customs to actively engage in the second conference to continue strengthening the relationship and cooperation on the customs management system.

Prof. David Widdowson, President of International Network of Customs University (INCU), Australia said customs authorities played a crucial role in each country to reduce time and cost in international trade through Risk Management, Post Clearance Audit, Single Window and much more.

He also added that international trade connectivity from one country to another in this globalisation era needs customs agencies to facilitate trade between countries, both locally and internationally. He further stressed that training and capacity building of customs officials is an important part of each country's efforts to promote and strengthen the ability of customs professionals to align with the regional and international context.

Organised by the Customs Committee of the Azerbaijani Republic in cooperation with INCU, the 2nd International Student Conference on Contemporary Issues and Challenges in Customs Management attracted students, researchers, professors and customs officials from around 33 countries.

The two Cambodian officials are Mr. Noey Tre from the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia and Mr. Un Rithy from the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).
