Two Ecotourism Sites in Preah Sihanouk Eye Plastic-Free Status

Provincial administration of Preah Sihanouk is promoting two ecotourism sites in well-known Koh Rong island to be a plastic-free tourist destination.

Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun and Governor of Koh Rong town Mr. Nuon Bunthol made the push when visiting the two ecotourism sites on Jan. 23.

The sites are Or Bei Choan ecotourm in Prek Svay village and Prek Ta Sok mangrove ecotourism community in Doeum Thkov village in Koh Rong town of Preah Sihanouk province.

As foreseen by the provincial governor, the plastic-free tourism does not only contribute to environmental protection encouraged by the Royal Government, but will also attract more tourists domestically and internationally.

As a result, the two ecotourism sites can both further promote rich natural resources and biodiversity and create more jobs boosting sustainable local economy, he added.

The governor also supported the formulation of tourism community to administer environment-friendly tourism development in the areas.
