Two International Events on Tourism Kicks Off Today in Siem Reap Province

AKP Phnom Penh, The 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Tourism Ministers Meeting and the 1st UNESCO/UNWTO International Conference on Sustainable Tourism and Heritage Cities kicked off this morning in Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples.

These international events were officially opened under the chairmanship of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

At the ACD Senior Officials' Meeting (ACD SOM) yesterday, H.E. Bundit Limschoon, ACD Secretary General, said the 2nd ACD Tourism Ministers Meeting will boost more cooperation on tourism in the region and the world.

This meeting will discuss and find key strategies and necessary mechanisms in order to promote the effectiveness of ACD so as to provide added-value to the regional, international and global cooperation in terms of tourism, he added.

For his part, H.E. Tith Chantha, Cambodian Secretary of State for Tourism, who chaired the ACD SOM, said the meeting and the conference will reflect the cultural heritage potential of Cambodia and attract more visitors as well as encourage different development partners and relevant organisations to take part in preserving Cambodian heritage and cultural resources.

These two international events, taking place from June 11 to 16, attracted high-level delegations from 21 countries.
