U.S., Cambodia Partner to Expand Economic Cooperation through Trade

The Cambodian and U.S. governments will hold a public workshop in Phnom Penh tomorrow to help Cambodia prepare to implement the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), according to the U.S. Embassy's press release issued today.

This upcoming workshop will feature remarks by U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. William Heidt and Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak, it pointed out.

The TFA workshop will discuss the findings of a USAID-funded assessment on Cambodia's readiness to implement the TFA, which was prepared at the request of the Government of Cambodia, it added.

The TFA is the first multilateral agreement successfully negotiated at the WTO, and seeks to help countries reduce the cost of importing and exporting goods and services, said the same source, stressing that joining the TFA will create significant opportunities for international trade and economic growth for Cambodia.
