U.S. Embassy Promotes American Cuisine in Phnom Penh

The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh announced the upcoming “American Restaurant Week” to highlight the diversity of American cuisine in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.

According to the U.S. Embassy’s press release dated Thursday, the first ever American Restaurant Week in Cambodia will take place from June 27 to July 4, which is Independence Day in the United States. In honor of this holiday, the U.S. Embassy has partnered with 20 select restaurants to bring a diverse array of American food to the Cambodian public.

During the week, participating restaurants in Phnom Penh will offer a wide range of discounts and special promotions, said the press release, pointing out that customers at these restaurants can purchase different foods from across the United States – including traditional hamburgers, ice cream, Louisiana gumbo, Hawaiian dishes, Tex-Mex specialties, and high quality U.S. steak.

In response to Cambodia’s rapid economic development, a growing number of U.S. companies and investors have come to open businesses in Cambodia. The food and hospitality industry in particular has been expanding due to increased demand from locals and tourists alike. U.S. companies are eager to serve the Cambodian people, who have demonstrated a growing appetite for American services and foods.
