U.S. State Secretary Leaves Cambodia with Optimism

AKP Phnom Penh,U.S. Secretary of State H.E. Antony Blinken departed Phnom Penh yesterday afternoon with optimism, after participating in the 55th AMM and Related Meetings hosted by Cambodia.

“As I depart Cambodia, I’m reflecting on the meetings I had with ASEAN Foreign Ministers and other regional leaders. We made progress toward our shared goals,” he tweeted.

“I leave with optimism about the progress we still can make together toward our vision for the Indo-Pacific region,” he added.

At a press conference earlier on the same day, H.E. Antony Blinken reaffirmed that the U.S. will continue to have a positive relationship with Cambodia based on the existing cooperation such as export markets and development assistance.

During his stay in Phnom Penh, he also announced a new US$25 million project to promote food security and economic growth in Cambodia’s agriculture sector.

The U.S. secretary of state is now on a visit in the Philippines, then he will continue to South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Rwanda until Aug. 12.
