Young people in Cambodia are being encouraged to get involved with the running of their neighbourhoods by engaging with their Commune Council.

The Council is at the heart of local government, but many youths do not know how to work with it to further their needs and the needs of the locality in which they live.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Cambodia is helping those people to understand the importance of the council in the democratic process. It has backed a video called Loy9 about a group of young football players.

Directed by Chhin Sothea it shows how the players convince the Commune Council to support their sporting activities. Eoin Ryan reports.
