UNDP Reiterates Support for Cambodia to Achieve SDGs 2016-2030

The United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) in Cambodia has reaffirmed to help Cambodia achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) 2016-2030.
The affirmation was highlighted by Ms. Alissar Chaker, the new UNDP Resident Representative in Cambodia in a recent meeting with H.E. Chhay Than, Senior Minister and Minister of Planning here in Phnom Penh.
H.E. Chhay Than briefed his guest about Cambodia’s rapid growth, stressing that the country’s development was significantly contributed by the UNDP’s support.
The senior minister continued that since 2000, UNDP has played crucial roles in supporting the Ministry of Planning in various areas.
The assistance primarily covered the five-year work plan preparation, the framework of millennium and sustainable development goals 2000-2015 and 2016-2030 respectively, the National Strategic Development Plan 2014-2018 and 2019-2023, and the recent work on identification of poor families in the context of COVID-19.
He lauded the good collaboration during the previous tenures of former UNDP representatives and was positive that more will be attained with UNDP under the leadership of Ms. Alissar Chaker.
From her end, Ms. Alissar Chaker spoke highly of the Royal Government’s effort in preventing the COVID-19 pandemic, building community immunity as well as in providing financial support for the poor families during the pandemic.
