UNEP Executive Director Meets Private Sector

AKP Phnom Penh, Visiting Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Dr. Erik Solheim held a working discussion here yesterday with the private sector at the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, according to the Ministry of Environment’s news release.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged work experience and perspectives on the strengthening of public-private cooperation, especially on the reduction of plastic use.

Dr. Erik Solheim encouraged the private sector to pay attention to renewable energy development, plastic product management and plastic reduction, reuse and recycling.

This meeting is a part of Dr. Erik Solheim’s two-day (June 25-26) visit in Cambodia, which reflects the UN’s full support to the achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia in terms of environmental and natural resource protection.
