Royal Government of Cambodia is spending US$8.5 million for its third General Population Census 2019 to be carried out in March.
H.E. Ms. Hang Lina, Director General of National Institute of Statistics at the Ministry of Planning shared the update with reporters recently.
The ministry, she added, has started the preparation for the census since 2016, continuing that it has now finished the mapping a critical step of the study.
There will be from 120 to 150 families in each of the planned 40,000 census centres throughout the country.
Cambodia’s population census has been conducted every ten years; the first and second ones were done in 1998 and 2008, respectively.
The third one was delayed for one year to 2019 as Cambodia will have the general election in 2018.
