US-ASEAN Business Council Delegation Pays Courtesy Call on Cambodian PM

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council led by Regional Managing Director and Senior Vice President H.E. Amb. Michael Michalak, at the Peace Palace here this morning.

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, in the meeting, H.E. Amb. Michael Michalak thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his support for the US-ASEAN Business Council so far and congratulated Cambodia on its ASEAN chairmanship this year.

H.E. Amb. Michael Michalak also spoke highly of Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s key role in the region, especially in the Myanmar issue as well as Cambodia’s successful measures in preventing the COVID-19 spread, leading to the resumption of economic activities.

He said the delegation is composed of 13 companies dividing into three groups and their visit focuses on energy sector, vehicle assembly factory in Pursat province, and digital economic and health promotion

In reply, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the U.S. for its donation in COVID-19 vaccines to Cambodia and briefed the delegation on the country’s energy situation.

In Cambodia, he pointed out, hydropower accounts for 61.39 percent while solar power for 4.1%, and biogas for 0.28%.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also welcomed the vehicle assembly in Pursat and encouraged all companies to continue their investment and to find more investment potential in Cambodia.
