VOA Discusses Possible Reopening of Office in Cambodia

U.S. international broadcaster the Voice of America (VOA) has discussed with Cambodia to reopen its Khmer service in Cambodia.

The intention was underlined by visiting Head of Office of Business Development at the U.S Agency for Global Media Mr. Mehmood Kazmi in a recent meeting with Cambodia's Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh.

The discussion followed the closure of the VOA Khmer service office in Cambodia by its main office in the United States of America.

From his end, H.E. Khieu Kanharith warmly welcomed the re-opening of the VOA office in Cambodia and expressed his willingness to provide necessary facilitation for the work.

The minister, however, noted that tax payment issue of VOA to the Government of Cambodia is beyond the ministry's responsibility, and encouraged the broadcaster to work with competent authorities.

Voice of America (VOA) is a U.S. government-financed international media agency focusing on non-military, external broadcasting.
