Workshop on E-Commerce to Drive Cambodia toward a Digitally-enabled Economy

A Capacity Building Workshop for Expanding Business Opportunities in E-Commerce, co-organised by Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce and the ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC), was held at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh late last week.

The objectives of the workshop are to share Korea's e-commerce development strategies and business practices, as well as contribute to the development of e-commerce sector of Cambodia, said an AKC's press release.

As more and more businesses are moving away from traditional off-line stores and going on-line, electronic commerce has increasingly become an important parcel of doing cross-border business. To align itself with this fast-changing trend, Cambodian government recently adopted the Cambodian ICT Master Plan 2020, seeking to enhance its e-commerce legislation, policy making, financial networks and logistics, said H.E. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of AKC.

At the workshop, experts and business representatives from Korea and Cambodia made presentations on the themes of Overview of Korea's E-Commerce Development Strategies, Policies and Opportunities in Cambodia's E-Commerce Industry, How to Enhance Cross-border E-Commerce, and Business Start-up for SMEs.
