Workshop to Share Cambodia’s Mine Sector Management Experience

Cambodia has hosted the Philippines Mine Action Stakeholder Workshop to share experience in mine sector management.
The workshop took place here in Phnom Penh on April 5 under the presidency of H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA).
H.E. Ly Thuch underlined that Cambodia’s goal to achieve mine-free status in 2025 has been well directed to.
Development of new skills and technology is crucial for mine clearance, said H.E. Ly Thuch, adding that the authority has been cooperating well with all stakeholders for the work.
He also spoke highly of all the stakeholders’ determination in the cooperation on mine clearance in the country as well as the region.
In 2012, Cambodia proposed the establishment of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC) to ensure human security, he said.
The workshop was organised under the collaboration between CMAA, ARMAC, Fondation suisse de déminage (FSD), EU and Philippine Campaign to Ban Landmines.
