Youth, a Vital Resource for Regional and Global Peace Keeping and Development

Youth is a highly energetic resource in the political process and economic development, political stability and peace keeping in the region and the globe.
The point was highlighted by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia and President of the 43rd AIPA General Assembly in a meeting with Heads of Young Parliamentarians of AIPA (YPA) led by H.E. Hun Many, Chairman of Cambodian NA’s 7th Commission, here in Phnom Penh this morning, prior to the opening ceremony of 43rd AIPA General Assembly.
“Youth representation is being promoted everywhere,” underlined the 43rd AIPA president.
H.E. Hun Many expressed his delight that the first meeting of YPA will be held physically this afternoon during the 43rd AIPA General Assembly being hosted by the Cambodian NA.
He was positive that with additional participation from YPA, which reflects the commitment of AIPA member parliaments and ASEAN as a whole, we will be able to achieve the building of an ASEAN Community full of opportunities and active and positive contribution from the young people for the common benefit of the people and countries in the ASEAN region
The 1st YPA meeting will be themed “Promoting engagement with young people for a sustainable, resilient and prosperous ASEAN community”, which is in line with the 43rd AIPA General Assembly’s theme “Advancing together for sustainable, inclusive and resilient ASEAN”.
