LABUAN PWD ADOPTS NEW POTHOLE REPAIR METHOD WITH XINLU CARPET PATCH

LABUAN, The Labuan Public Works Department (JKR Labuan) will be implementing a new pothole repair method using the innovative product, XINLU Carpet Patch.

PWD Labuan director Mohd Faizul Ali Hanapiah said the XINLU Carpet Patch is a proven innovative product that serves as an alternative for pothole repairs on roads.

‘This product has undergone three years of research and durability testing, and in November 2023, it was approved by the Malaysian PWD as a permanent patch,’ he told Bernama today.

He said the carpet patch pothole repair method is easy to execute on-site and saves work time, directly reducing road closure time.

‘With a high durability that can last up to two years, it has become the preferred choice for highway concession companies in Peninsular Malaysia using this product,’ he said.

Mohd Faizul said with the XINLU Carpet Patch, it would only take 15 minutes to complete a pothole patching job, compared to conventional methods that require nearly an hour when considering the various machines
and equipment involved.

A demonstration of patching using this method was done on Jalan Persekutuan Labuan and was attended by representatives from the product distributor, Borneo Mechanical Engineering Sdn Bhd, and was witnessed by the Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, along with engineers from the JKR Labuan Roads Division on June 7 in Labuan.
