MAHAR CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE POLITICAL MEASURE TO END GENOCIDE IN GAZA

KUALA LUMPUR, The Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief (MAHAR) urged for an immediate political solution to end the ongoing conflict and return the rights of the Palestinian people.

MAHAR advisor Nurul Izzah Anwar said if Israel and its allies focused on a political solution instead of exacting revenge and collective punishment, innocent lives would be saved.

‘Israel’s allies must respect the decisions of international institutions, completely cease all military operations and invasion, and also stop supporting bombing activities,” she said in a statement.

The statement said that Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Gilad Erdan has received official notification of the decision from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that the UN had already added Israel to the blacklist of countries that have abused children in armed conflict.

Nurul Izzah added that Israel and its allies’ behaviour has cost the lives of many innocent civilians, including women and children.

She noted that targeting refugee
camps, UN premises or those used for other humanitarian purposes cannot be the new norm, and those actions have to stop.

“The responsible parties must be made accountable, as would be demanded if such atrocities occurred elsewhere,” Nurul Izzah said.

She also described using hostages to legitimise killing, injuring, maiming, starving and traumatising Palestinians in Gaza as a crystal clear genocidal intent turned into action.

In the meantime, she added that MAHAR, through its “Dapur Ihsan” initiative, stands committed to providing cooked food to those taking refuge in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza.
