CIVIL SERVANTS NEED TO SHOULDER TRUST, CONFIDENCE BASED ON H.E.M.A.T VALUES – KPPA

KUALA LUMPUR, Civil servants need to shoulder the trust and confidence that they are responsible for based on the values ??of H.E.M.A.T (Hijrah Tatakelola, Empati Rakyat, Minda Pekin, Apresiasi Inovasi and Telus Tadbiran).

Public Services Department (KPPA) director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the H.E.M.A.T concept needs civil servants to always have the courage to migrate through sensitivity to the demands of current changes, carry out their duties neatly, be efficient in the execution of their duties and practice efficient communication.

“The value of H.E.M.A.T needs to be in line with the Malaysia MADANI policy inspired by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and aspiration of ‘The G.R.E.A.T. CIVIL SERVICE’ which was introduced by the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, so that the implementation of the new value can later meet all the wishes that have been outlined,” he said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community De
velopment (KPWKM).

He said this during an exclusive talk titled ‘H.E.M.A.T: Penuhi Aspirasi, Pencapaian Dirasai’ in the ISM Executive Talk, organised by the Social Institute of Malaysia (ISM) today.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan said public officers need to adhere to three principles in implementing their tasks namely Facilitate, Accommodate and Accelerate.

Therefore, he said, the current way of working needs to be adjusted in order to meet the country’s direction and fulfil the people’s expectations and based on human relations, the values ??of H.E.M.A.T can be practiced by every leader and employee in the public sector.

“A leader should be a good listener, be smart in optimising resources, actively inspire new ideas, and be involved in enacting new laws and regulations.

“On the other hand, employees must implement all the changes set, try to understand any new changes, apply the new methods used, and comply with all the new regulations,” he said.

In the same event, Wan Ahmad Dahlan also launched the book ‘Menjunju
ng Legasi Kepimpinan Wanita KPWKM’ which lists eight female leaders who lead the ministry as secretary-general.

The book contains notes, thoughts, philosophies, principles, and contributions of these women figures in steering KPWKM and leading the development agenda and social well-being of the Malaysian community.

GOODS VEHICLE OWNERS REMINDED TO APPLY FOR FLEET CARDS TO ENJOY DIESEL SUBSIDIES

KUANTAN, Owners of goods vehicles have been reminded to apply for fleet cards immediately to enable them to enjoy subsidised diesel once the government implements the targeted diesel subsidies.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh said around 90,000 fleet cards have been issued and currently there were 23 categories of goods vehicles that qualify for the subsidy.

“When the diesel subsidy is withdrawn, the prices at petrol stations will be for unsubsidised diesel and those who own the fleet card can purchase diesel at subsidised prices… that’s why it’s important to apply.

“For now, the registration process for the fleet cards is still open and I urge those who qualify to do so,’ she said at a media conference after joining a ministry enforcement operation here today.

She shared that during the operation, a joint team from her ministry and the Pahang Immigration Department had raided a grocery shop and a restaurant here after receiving public complaints and found several offences,
including failure to maintain a book on the stocks of controlled items under Regulation 13(2) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974.

‘Leakages relating to subsidised cooking oil packs were also found as they were sent to the restaurant next door for business purposes when the packs are meant for household use,’ she said.

INTERIM PROBE INTO CONTRACT AWARDED TO COMPANY LINKED TO HANNAH YEOH’S SPOUSE FOUND NO WRONGDOING – AZAM BAKI

PUTRAJAYA, The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has clarified that it conducted an interim investigation into the awarding of the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) pilot project contract by the Selangor government to the company owned by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh’s husband and found no wrongdoing.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said as the interim investigation revealed no misconduct, the commission decided there was no case to pursue, adding that continued media coverage of the issue could have adverse effects on both parties involved.

“If a politician claims there is a moral issue in this case, that is up to them. I am not a politician or a motivational expert to comment on such matters,” he said during the Executive Talk Editor Media Online programme today.

Yesterday, after Azam said that the MACC found no link between Hannah and the contract award, some politicians criticised him, suggesting there could have been elements of power abuse overlooked by the MACC.

Asia Mobi
lity Technologies Sdn Bhd, owned by Hannah’s husband, is one of the two companies selected for the DRT pilot project, a state government initiative to improve public transportation services and mobility in Selangor.

When asked about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement leaving it to the authorities to investigate the contract award issue, Azam said he would personally explain the case to the Prime Minister.

“As the Prime Minister said, let the authorities handle this. You have frequently asked about this matter and questioned him about it. This is not a directive from the Prime Minister, and any subsequent investigation is up to the MACC as the authority,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz will unveil further details about the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) tomorrow.

When met after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement today, Tengku Zafrul said the details will include the allocation of RM25 billion in fiscal support to operationalise the NSS, research and development (RandD), and talent creation.

The minister said engineers are in high demand from various industries, not just semiconductors, and are outstripping supply.

He said the government is committed to working with industry players and universities to nurture more skilled talent.

Earlier, the Prime Minister announced that the nation will develop a global RandD hub for semiconductors under the NSS, which will feature world-class universities, corporates, and centres of excellence.

Anwar said 60,000 high-skilled Malaysian engineers will be trained and upskilled to support the sector’s growing demand.

‘(The creation of 60,
000 engineers) would be over five to 10 years depending on which incentives that we are looking at,’ he told reporters on the sideline of SEMICON Southeast Asia 2024 today.

The Prime Minister said the nation set to woo at least RM500 billion of investments in the first phase of the NSS.

The nation is keen to establish at least 10 Malaysian companies in design and advanced packaging with revenues of between RM1 billion and RM 4.7 billion (US$210 million and US$1 billion).

It also hoped to nurture at least 100 semiconductor-related companies with revenues close to RM1 billion (US$210 million), creating higher wages for Malaysian workers.
