KUALA NERUS, Terengganu FC (TFC) team gets a morale booster during their training yesterday with the return of their agile winger, Akhyar Rashid.
After almost a fortnight of rest due to injuries sustained in a robbery earlier this month, Akhyar appeared fit enough to warm up and do light exercise with the team to regain confidence.
While admitting that he was still traumatised by the incident, the national player said he just could not wait to play in the Super League matches that kicked off on May 11, and is looking forward to being fielded to play in the match against Penang FC next Sunday.
‘The stitches in my leg might be removed tomorrow.
‘In two or three days, I’ll start full training to regain fitness,’ he said after the training session at the Gong Badak Sports Complex.
Akhyar, who is on a year-long loan from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), also expressed his gratitude to local football fans for their continuous words of encouragement and prayers for his health.
He said the unwavering support from eve
ryone has been a source of strength for him to recover quickly and forget the unfortunate incident.
‘InsyaAllah, with the support from family and friends, as well as the fans, I’ll come back stronger.
‘I also pray that this incident will not recur or happen to anyone else. There have been no developments related to the case, so far. I leave it entirely to the police to take action,’ he added.
The assault and robbery at his residence at about 8.30 pm on May 2, left Akhyar with four stitches on his head and two on his leg, as well as a loss of nearly RM5,000.
