ALMOST 130,000 PADI FARMERS RECEIVE CASH AID OF RM210 VIA PLOUGHING, HARVESTING INCENTIVES


PUTRAJAYA, Almost 130,000 padi farmers in Peninsular Malaysia will receive cash assistance amounting to RM210 per hectare per season through the increase in ploughing incentive rate as well as the introduction of harvesting incentive by the government.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) said the ploughing incentive rate has been increased and the harvesting incentive was introduced by the ministry on May 27.

KPKM has taken steps to improve the existing rate for ploughing incentive from RM100 per hectare per season to RM160 per hectare per season.

“KPKM also introduced a new incentive which is a harvesting incentive at the rate of RM50 per hectare per season,” according to the statement.

On May 27, KPKM announced that the diesel subsidy to fishermen would be maintained and announced an increase in the rate of ploughing incentive as well as the introduction of new harvesting incentive for padi farmers.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has announced the implement
ation of the MADANI Subsidy Assistance Programme (BUDI MADANI) including the Agri-Commodity BUDI category for qualified farmers, breeders and aquaculture operators.

The price of diesel at all peninsular retail stations is set at RM3.35 per litre starting yesterday (June 10), which is the market price without subsidy based on the average of May 2024 according to the Automatic Price Mechanism.
