ASEAN Special Envoy to Pay Second Visit to Myanmar Soon

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia as the ASEAN Chair’s Special Envoy on Myanmar will pay another visit to Myanmar.
Speaking to reporters at a press briefing on the outcomes of the Consultative Meeting on ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar in Phnom Penh this afternoon, H.E. Prak Sokhonn said he will make the second visit to Myanmar in the next few weeks.
The second visit to Myanmar will be made after he returns from the ASEAN-US Special Summit in Washington D.C. on May 12-13, 2022, according to the special envoy.
“We hope that as the Chair of ASEAN, we can help Myanmar as much as we can on the multi-sectoral crisis there,” he said.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn visited Myanmar for the first time in his capacity as the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar on Mar. 21-23, 2022. On the occasion, he paid a courtesy call on H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC); met with H.E. Wunna Maung Lwin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ko Ko Hlaing, Chairman of the Task Force on ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance, and H.E. Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae, Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Committee (NSPC), as well as the UN Specialised Agencies and some ASEAN’s partners; and visited the Myanmar Red Cross Society Warehouse in Yangon.
