BERNAMA SANDAKAN CORRESPONDENT NUR ADIKA DIES


SANDAKAN, Malaysian National News Agency, Sandakan correspondent Nur Adika Bujang, 45, was found dead in her residence at Taman Perumahan IJM, Batu 6 here at noon today.

Her mother Nafsiah Bubin confirmed her death when contacted, adding that she had accepted what happened.

“She was a good child and always helped our family,’ she shared, and said that Nur Adika would be buried in Kota Kinabalu.

Meanwhile Bernama chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin conveyed her condolences to Nur Adika’s family on behalf of the entire agency’s staff.

“We are shocked by the news of her passing, and we pray that she will be placed among the righteous with Allah’s blessings.

“Bernama will assist the family with bringing Nur Adika back to Kota Kinabalu,’ she added.

Nur-ul Afida described Nur Adika as an excellent correspondent who was bilingual and creative in her writing, having twice won the Excellent Service Award in 2014 and 2020 as well as receiving the Culture and Art Entertainment (Broadcast) Merit Award i
n 2023.

Nur Adika served with Bernama as a journalist for nearly 20 years, beginning on Oct 31, 2005, and was appointed Sandakan correspondent on Jan 1, 2019.

Meanwhile, Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station chief Severinus Sainkul said that they received a distress call regarding the matter at around 1.10 pm.

‘A woman was found in the bathroom at 1.31 pm,’ he said when contacted today, adding that a Health Ministry medical officer subsequently confirmed that Nur Adika had died.
