Cambodia, India Congratulate Upcoming Establishment of Direct Flights

Cambodia and India have congratulated on the direct flights between their capitals, which will be launched in the near future in contribution to further enhance the relations between the two peoples and boost their economic and trade ties.

The remarks were made by Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Hun Sen and H.E. Ms. Devyani Uttam Khobragade, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, during their courtesy meeting at the Senate Palace here this morning.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Devyani Uttam Khobragade also expressed her hope that the relationship between Cambodia and India in the fields of politics, economy, and security will continue to be promoted.

At the same time, she recalled the successful state visit by His Majesty the King of Cambodia to India in May 2023, and invited Samdech Techo Hun Sen to visit India as the Senate President. She hoped that Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and the new Prime Minister of India will meet some time this year.

For his
part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said India is the only one democratic nation in the world that worked with Cambodia after the country’s liberation from Khmer Rouge genocidal regime in 1979, while western nations were busy in imposing political, economic, and diplomatic sanctions on Cambodia.

The senate president commended the good cooperation between Cambodia and India in the ASEAN Framework, and thanked India for providing scholarships for Cambodian officials and for holding the co-chairmanship of the International Coordination Committee for Preah Vihear (ICC-Preah Vihear).
