Cambodia, IOM Laud Their Good Cooperation


Cambodia and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) highly appreciated the results of their good cooperation in promoting and protecting the rights of migrants.

The satisfaction was underlined during a meeting in Phnom Penh on July 24 between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha, and Ms. Kristin Parco, outgoing Chief of Mission of the IOM in Cambodia.

On the occasion, Ms. Kristin Parco thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for its cooperation and highly appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to resolve migration-related issues.

For his part, H.E. Aphi Santepundit Sar Sokha expressed gratitude to IOM for supporting Cambodia to become a champion in the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) in the Asia-Pacific region, and for supporting the Kingdom to be co-chair with UN agencies working with regional migration and to exchange ideas as a champion country for GCM implementation.

The Cam
bodian DPM also briefed Ms. Kristin Parco on the ongoing efforts and commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia to accelerate the delivery of public services to local people and enhance capacity at the sub-national level, as well as the strong commitment of the Ministry of ‘Interior and other ministries to strengthen resilience to climate change.
