Cambodia Receives 2.1 Million Foreign Tourists in First Four Months

Cambodia welcome 2.11 million foreign tourists in the first four months of this year, up 23 percent compared to the same period in 2023, according to a Ministry of Tourism’s report.

Thailand topped the list of foreign arrivals to Cambodia during the said period with 588,312 visitors, though the figure represents a year-on-year decrease of 3.2 percent, the source said.

Some 414,366 Vietnamese and 260,455 Chinese tourists also travelled to Cambodia during the four-month period, up 43.1 percent and 41.5 percent respectively, it added.

Nearly 825,000 visitors, or about 39 percent of the total foreign tourist arrivals, arrived in Cambodia via airports, a year-on-year increase of 30.1 percent, and the rest via land border gates and waterways, the report pointed out.

H.E. Top Sopheak, Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Tourism, said that the figures clearly indicated that Cambodia’s tourism sector is on a recovery path even though it has not yet reached the level before the COVID-19 crisis.

‘The Royal Government through the Ministry of Tourism is putting its efforts in working with relevant parties and the private sector to promote tourism potential in order to attract more foreign tourists to visit Cambodia,’ he said.

At the same time, the ministry’s report showed that Cambodia’s outbound tourism also went up by 2.2 percent to 582,986 during the January-April period of this year.

The ministry also recorded 7.8 million domestic visitors to the tourism destinations across the country.

Last year, the Kingdom received 5.45 million foreign visitors, earning a gross revenue of US$3.08 billion, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
