Cambodia Stresses the Need for Strengthening Asia-Europe Cooperation

It is necessary to strengthen the Asia-Europe cooperation to be more comprehensive to achieve a resilient economic growth.
The remark was made by H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance while presiding over the closing ceremony of the 1st Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum held via videoconference this afternoon under the theme “Transitioning to a New Normal: Leveraging Global Value Chains, Multilateralism and the 4th Industrial Revolution”.
Some priorities, including the development and implementation of regional economic recovery plan and strategy, socio-economic digitalisation, development of SMEs, human resource development, impacts arising from climate change and so on, should be focused on, he added.
On this basis, he underlined, all the ASEM countries must stick to the spirit of openness and support for multilateral trade system to enhance the attractiveness and favorable atmosphere for business activities, trade and investment in response to the changing global trade and economic architecture.
“Furthermore, we need to reinforce the coordination and joint efforts in setting out concrete strategies and actions, both at the regional and global levels, aiming to overcome challenges and risks, especially to take advantage of the potential for change toward the New Normal of development in order to maintain sustainability and strengthen resilience of our socio-economic development,” the Cambodian deputy prime minister said.
