Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA), has voiced Cambodia’s full support for Timor-Leste to become the 11th member of ASEAN and its National Parliament to become a member of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
The support was reiterated during his courtesy meeting with visiting Timor-Leste President H.E. Dr. José Manuel Ramos-Horta at the NA Palace in Phnom Penh this afternoon.
Samdech Heng Samrin stated that maintaining the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries and within the framework of the ASEAN Community is very important in the current and future circumstances as the global situation changes constantly.
In reply, H.E. Dr. José Manuel Ramos-Horta congratulated Cambodia on its rapid development, and profoundly thanked the Kingdom for the support for Timor-Leste’s membership in ASEAN and AIPA.
He expressed Timor-Leste’s commitment to strengthen its relations with Cambodia in all fields, adding that in the near future, there will be direct flights between both countries.
