Cambodia to Examine Possibility to Provide More Training for Ukrainian Deminers

Cambodia will examine the possibility of cooperating with Japan to provide more training for Ukrainian deminers.

The pledged was made by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, in a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart H.E. Ruslan Stefanchuk, via Videoconference this afternoon.

In reply to the Ukrainian side’s request for Cambodian deminers in Ukraine, Samdech Techo Hun Sen explained that Cambodia cannot send deminers to Ukraine because the Cambodian Constitution does not allow the deployment of demining forces outside the UN umbrella.

Besides mine clearance in Ukraine, H.E. Ruslan Stefanchuk mentioned about the ten-point formula for restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and peace and called on the Cambodian side to take part in this peace formula. He also invited Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to attend a summit on peace in Ukraine to be held in Geneva, Switzerland in mid-June.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that Camb
odia will take the 10-point formula into consideration, and he left the decision to participate in the above-said summit to the Royal Government.

Anyway, the Cambodian senate president underlined that the peace summit, which has a specific value, must be attended by all concerned parties, so there must be the presence of Russia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen recalled the two telephone conversations with the President of Ukraine H.E. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as the meetings between both countries’ foreign ministers and defence ministers.
